Ngā Kura

We have a range of classes for different reo levels throughout the region. A typical kura will have class once a week in the evening and run for a year following the school terms and holidays. Our current class locations are Hamilton based. If you are interested in joining the next intake in your area, please add your name to the waitlist and once registrations open you will be sent an email for expressions of interest.

He Pokapū Rumaki

Pokapū rumaki are community immersion spaces/events that prioritise building and supporting speaker communities.  A space where reo Māori is normalised and accessible to the wider community. They enhance immersion community activities and contexts. They aim to support whānau to manage language planning strategies ensuring intergenerational language transmission.

Ngā Huihuinga

We are proud to be part of a vibrant calendar of events that celebrate te reo Māori and the kaupapa of Te Ataarangi. Throughout the year, we host events such as Matariki, Mahuru Māori quiz nights, organise whānau fun days, arts and crafts sessions, and other activities that bring our community together. We encourage our members to attend significant Tainui gatherings like Koroneihana and Poukai and our kapa haka group meets regularly to practice waiata, ensuring we’re ready to perform and participate in upcoming events.

While we usually prepare for Hui ā-Rohe, in 2025, TAKROT is honoured to host Te Hui Whānui o Te Ataarangi, and preparations are already underway. These kaupapa require careful planning and organising, managed by our dedicated komiti who meet monthly to keep everything on track. This is just a glimpse of the mahi happening across the rohe, mō te oranga o te reo rangatira.
